L. Trent Davis is Director of Instrumental Music and Director of Bands at Norman North High School. Before coming to Norman North, Mr. Davis was the Associate Director of Bands and Director of Sports Bands at Southeastern Louisiana University. While at Southeastern Mr. Davis resurrected the athletic bands after a 20-year absence from the Southeastern campus. Under his direction The “Spirit of the Southland” athletic bands became the center of pride and spirit at all athletic events and made appearances regionally and nationally. Prior to Southeastern Mr. Davis was a band director in the public schools of Oklahoma for 13 years, most recently as Director of Bands at Edmond North High School. Mr. Davis’s band have been recognized for their excellence by being chosen as honor groups for the Oklahoma Music Educators Convention and have consistently received superior ratings regionally and nationally.
Mr. Davis received his Bachelor of Music Education degree with a percussion emphasis from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. As a member of the University of Oklahoma Percussion Orchestra, he appears on the CD “Laser Woodcuts” and performed at the 1985 Percussive Arts Society Convention in Los Angles, California. Mr. Davis received his Master of Music in Wind Conducting from the University of Missouri at Columbia where he was a conducting graduate assistant with the Wind Ensemble and assistant to the Director with “Marching Mizzou.” Currently Mr. Davis holds ABD status for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Davis has studied wind conducting with William Wakefield, Dale J. Lonis, and Jerry Junkin.
Mr. Davis has been active as an adjudicator, studio teacher, and honor band clinician in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Louisiana. He has been in demand as a music arranger, percussion clinician, and drill designer for high school bands in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Mr. Davis has performed professionally as a percussionist with the Missouri Symphony, Arrow Rock Lyceum Repertory Theatre, Ardmore Little Theatre, and Carrousel Productions of Oklahoma. Currently Mr. Davis is an endorser for Innovative Percussion products. Mr. Davis’ professional affiliations include Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, College Band Directors National Association, College Music Society, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Stephen Meiller is the Assistant Director of Bands at Norman North High School. Mr. Meiller holds a Bachelor of Music Education in Music Education with a French Horn emphasis from the University of Kansas.
While at KU, Mr. Meiller performed with the nationally recognized KU Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Kauffman Center in Kansas City and the Lied Center of Kansas in Lawrence. He appears on the KU Wind Ensemble CDs, “Landscapes” and “In the Shadow of No Towers” featuring a world premiere by Arab-American composer, Mohammad Fairouz. Mr. Meiller also performed with the Marching Jayhawks and the KU Athletic Pep Bands at Jayhawk basketball, football, and volleyball games. As mellophone section leader, Mr. Meiller traveled to the Final Four in New Orleans and has performed with the KU Bands all over the Midwest.
Mr. Meiller has taught privately in the Kansas City and Oklahoma City metro areas and is affiliated with the Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Kansas Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, National Education Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Brian Dailey began his pursuit of a music career at the University of Oklahoma in 2008. There, he studied percussion with Dr. Lance Drege, Dr. Ricardo Coelho de Souza, and Dr. Nathan Daughtrey. In 2010, Brian won the spot of tenor captain with the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, a world-class organization that competes in the Drum Corps International circuit. As a member of the Boston Crusaders, he spent the summer touring and competing around the country. In May of 2012, Brian earned a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance degree and won the outstanding percussion undergraduate award that same year. Immediately after graduation, he signed a 6 and a half month contract with Carnival Cruise Lines playing drumset for the showband onboard the Carnival Splendor.
Brian has also been an active music educator, taking the position of head drumline coordinator at Putnam City High School for the past two years as well as coordinating percussion clinics and teaching privately in the Norman and Oklahoma City area.
Color Guard Instructor
Kelsey Hernandez is currently a sophomore, Music Education major at the University of Oklahoma, color guard member of the Pride of Oklahoma, and was a 2012 graduate of Norman North High School. Ms. Hernandez has had an extensive background in the pageantry arts and has performed in both Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International competitions as well as college games and high school band competitions. While in high school Ms. Hernandez was chosen to be a member of the U.S. Army All-Star marching band on sabre and performed with the group in San Antonio TX at the annual U.S. Army All-Star football game. Most recently Ms. Hernandez was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard sabre line for three years and has marched a total of nine years in DCI corps including the Colt Cadets, Teal Sound, and Jersey Surf. Currently she is a member of Eclectix Winter Guard from Oklahoma City and has marched with Central Independent WinterGuard, and Ars Nova Independent Winter guard.
